It’s the time of the year again when university camps start rolling in and we all have the one same fear – how do I look good without makeup? With a couple of weeks of summer break left, it’s time to get your face primed and prepped so as to impress without distress (or the-stress). Due to the ungodly 6.30am morning calls and daily 2am suppers, there’s barely enough time to rest – not to mention waking up even earlier to fill in our sparse brows and curl our short, stubby eyelashes.
Not bare-faced and not full-faced makeup. We want to find that in-between mark that’s just enough for us to make an impression on that cuteboi96. Knowing that we look different once our oil cleansers are applied, we may feel slightly panicky stripping our makeup game all the way down to bare skin. Fret not, if you have those extra bucks from your summer part-time job or internship, here are a few tips to look effortlessly good for camp!
Eyelash Perming & Extensions
Sometimes we need that extra curl and oomph but we just don’t have the time to religiously curl every single strand. Camp isn’t complete with beach games and that means risking the chance of getting mascara smudged in every possible way. Instead of having to worry about the uncontrollable smudging, why not book an appointment to get your lashes groomed and curled 24/7?
Everyone has heard about the magic of eyelash extensions. They add length, volume and thickness to our natural eyelashes – just like falsies, without the hassle to remove it at the end of every day. Eyelash extensions come in different curls and lengths but for a natural i-just-woke-up-like-this look, opting for the B or C-Curl may be the most ideal.
Although eyelash extensions can visibly volumize your short and stubby lashes, fallouts are bound to happen within a week. For those who want something less dramatic and more manageable, getting an eyelash perm can temporarily keep your lashes curled for around 3 months. We have heard of digital perm and cold perm for your hair but now you can even get your lashes curled with perming solution or cream!
Flutter your lashes and someone’s heart might just be fluttering as well 😉
Peel-Off Brow Tint
Let’s be honest, we just don’t feel like ourselves without filling our sparse and unshaped brows. Brows are the key to framing your face so there you go – you now have a legitimate reason to keep your brow game strong, even in camp! Throughout the years, many cosmetic brands have invented waterproof, sweat-proof and long-lasting brow products. I fully agree that these brow gels, tattoos and pencils can get you through hours of games and forfeits but the truth is that you still need forsake that 15 minutes of extra sleep to draw your brows every morning.
So here’s my proposition. Etude House has invented one of the most ingenious products that should be in every girl’s makeup collection – Etude House’s Tint My Brows Gel. Available in 7 different shades at $15.90 each, all you need to do is select the shade that best fits your hair colour. It is recommended that you apply a generous amount of brow gel and give it at least 2 hours to dry before peeling them off. For a more long-lasting effect, I like to leave it overnight and peel them off in the morning. Not only does this give your brows a soft and natural tint, the tint doesn’t budge for 3-5 days! Check out our TL;DR attempt using this product here!
SPF cannot be neglected if you’re going to be under the relentless sun – especially during beach day games. What a better way to get a subtle coverage while ensuring that your face stays protected from the UVA and UVB rays than to use a 2-in-1 tinted moisturiser? Tinted moisturisers typically have a lightweight formula, making application as easy as blending it out with your fingers. Although they don’t provide full coverage, our blemishes will be blurred out in a natural finish. The NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30 and the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser Oil-Free Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen are cult favourites and a little can go a long way!
You don’t have to go bare-faced in front of newly found friends in camp. With little tweaks and preparation, you can get your face geared up without constantly worrying whether half your brow disappeared!
