Do we really need sunscreen?

While all the scientific terms on sun protection products can be overwhelming and confusing, choosing the most suitable sunscreen based on your individual needs is crucial in the skin care and make up routine.

What do they mean?

UVB is also known as the burning ray. It is the main cause of skin reddening and sunburn.

UVA is the ageing ray. It dominant tanning ray. Prolonged exposure to UVA, whether outdoors or in a salon, it can cause damages to our skin and lead to skin cancer. Although UVA rays account for up to 95 percent of the UV radiation reaching the Earth’s surface, it is actually less intense than UVB.

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It refers to how well a sunscreen can protect the skin from UVB rays. The higher number of SPF coverage refers to a higher ability to block UVB rays, which means it gives you a better protection from skin damages.

How does it work?

There are mainly two ways that sunscreen can work on your skin.

  1. Physical sun products- Contains active ingredients that reflect the harmful rays.
  2. Chemical products- Contains active ingredients that absorb the harmful rays
