A local singer/songwriter, winner of Noise Singapore in 2015 and now an emerged artist in Singapore, LEW is constantly striving to make music and sharing his stories through his music. What makes you the happiest?
When I see people coming together to do something to better the world.
If you had only one song you could play for the rest of your life on repeat, what would it be?
Probably something instrumental, as long as there are no words or lyrics on it then I’d be happy with it.
What is your favourite quote or life advice that you hold on to?
I love this quote so much: “Don’t be discouraged. It’s often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock.”
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Hopefully still writing and sharing my music with the world. And also hopefully happily attached.Who would be one person you’d kill to collaborate with and why?
Either Passenger or Birdy, both artists are my inspiration and influence my preference and style of music. Being able to collaborate with them would be an amazing experience.
What is your pet peeve?
When people are rude or not actively polite to service staff.
What/who would you bring on a deserted island?
I’d bring my twin sister along, so I’d have someone to fight, sing, dance, and attempt to survive with.
Describe your musical journey thus far.
It has been amazing. I’ve been given opportunities along the way, and I’m very thankful for that. At the same time, there have been ups and downs but always remember to push on through.
Tell us about how the name Lullacry came about.
I like the idea of lullabies because it make people feel good and it puts them to sleep. And I always felt that crying can also put people at peace just like what lullabies are capable of. Thats why a lot of the songs in the album are with a sad vibe as it is meant to touch that emotional aspect of yours.
Which is your favourite song in the album Lullacry?
‘All I Am’. Its one of the longer song in the album and it means a little more special to me. It is also my mum’s favourite song in my album.
How do you prepare for your shows?
So firstly, I won’t eat spicy or oily foods because it will scratch my throat. I will take a hot steamy shower to relax myself. If I have a bit more time I would actually boil some water, and inhale the steam because it will clear the mucus or anything that is blocked in my nose and my throat. It soothes me down as well. I also do yoga
What are the future plans for Lew Loh?
I want to continue to make music. Share my stories and songs through music and allow people to relate to my songs and know that they are not alone.
What is one message you’d like to say to your fans?
I’d like to say thank you for being part of my journey and for supporting the dreams of my reality.
